King Harold
Not everyone can live in one of those Aegean towns,
The ones that shine with a pure whitewash light.
Nor can the waters always that clear blue pretenders
Are wont to call azure be.
Use lots of bright colors,
Certain reds and greens and yellows.
Even purple. Especially purple
Finds meaning as applied to drear walls.
Houses are vague and smeared
By smog in China,
By decay in Brazil,
By vandals in France.
Even the shining city on the Hudson
is blighted with the cost-reward ratio
of concrete over brick.
Therefore we paint.
We must paint!
We paint as kings.
Let us purple the world.
Yes, the world must be purpled.
